38th Union World Conference on Lung Health, Cape Town, South Africa, October 2007

Third Annual FIND-BD Symposium on MGIT Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing

On November 9, in conjunction with the Union’s International Scientific Conference in Cape Town, FIND and BD hosted its third annual symposium on MGIT culture and drug susceptibility testing (DST). While the first two symposia were devoted to the FIND demonstration projects of MGIT case finding and DST for rapid diagnosis of MDR TB, this year’s event featured a wider range of presentations. These included an overview of WHO’s new policy guidance on liquid culture and DST and plans for expansion of laboratory capacity in response to the dual epidemics of TB/HIV and MDR TB.
