Organization
The Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), a non-profit organization in Geneva, Switzerland dedicated to developing diagnostics for poverty-related infectious diseases, is searching for a clinical data manager. Current activities focus on tuberculosis, malaria and human African trypanosomiasis diagnostic development and evaluation.
In collaboration with the FIND study coordinators, this role includes the planning, coordination and overseeing of data management of all FIND-sponsored laboratory and field-based diagnostic (clinical) trials and specimen banks.
Job description
He/she will:
- develop and manage all data collection tools (i.e., case report forms (CRF), CRF completion guidelines, data dictionaries, database design) and methods (performing data validation checks), assuring consistency across all projects and research studies and assuring that data is collected according to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and that quality control mechanisms are maintained both at the data collection site and the data coordinating center (Geneva)
- ensure the appropriate establishment of database structures and standards to meet data management and reporting requirements
- be responsible for cross-checking electronic data and source documents
- track and report on status and progress of data management for allocated trials and specimen collection sites and be proactive to ensure smooth and successful timely locking of databases
- conduct basic statistical analysis on interim and final locked databases
- maintain knowledge of current global diagnostic regulatory guidelines relevant to Clinical Data Management
- provide on-site training, requiring some travel outside of Europe (up to 25%)
Skills required
- At least 2 years, hands-on experience in the management of biomedical research studies, including relevant experience with development of CRFs, database design and management (essential)
- Excellent analytical skills required to manage, analyze, and clean study data
- Good organizational skills; good understanding of clinical trial methodology, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and medical terminology (essential)
- Minimum bachelor degree in life sciences, pharmacy, nursing, biostatistics or informatics. Specific knowledge or training in diagnostic or drug development an asset
- Fluent in written and spoken English, knowledge of a second language an advantage
- Experience working in a developing country an asset
- Strong computer skills; good presentation skills, attention to detail, and good problem solving skills
- Ability to work without close supervision and under pressure (e.g., meet timelines)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills - able to operate effectively in an international environment
- Team player that can supervise on site data entry personnel within a trial/project and work productively with external partners such as Investigators or Biostatisticians
Technical skills
- Excellent knowledge and experience in at least one statistical program such as: SAS, SPSS, EPI-INFO
- Strong computer skills: WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS, e-mail applications, etc.
