Working together to fight poverty-related diseases
ASM and FIND to Partner on Strengthening Infectious Disease Diagnosis in Resource-Poor and Transitional Nations
31 July 2008
The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and FIND have signed a
Memorandum of Understanding confirming their agreement to work in
partnership for projects aimed at strengthening infectious disease
diagnosis and service integration in resource-poor and transitional
countries.
Rapid Diagnosis of MDR-TB
1 July 2008
Several FIND partners have brought together their know-how to demonstrate the utility of the 'line probe assay', a new molecular test which is highly effective in diagnosing multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and which can be used in laboratory settings in developing countries.
Rapid tests for drug-related TB to be made available in developing countries

Announcement of rapid diagnostics tests for MDR TB during press conference at the Palais des Nations
30 June 2008
In a joint announcement today between the WHO, the Stop TB Partnership, UNITAID and FIND, two new health initiatives will have a considerable impact in the fight against the global tuberculosis epidemic. Until now, the spread of drug-resistant TB strains, especially the recent emergence of virtually untreatable extensively drug-resistant (XDR) TB, threatened to push TB control back into the pre-antibiotic era.
