Negotiated prices for Xpert® MTB/RIF and FIND country list
Enhancement of diagnostic capacity for TB and MDR-TB is urgently needed to scale-up access to care and treatment of MDR-TB. To help meet this challenge, FIND has collaborated in the development and evaluation of new TB diagnostic tools, including cartridge-based automated NAAT technology. WHO has officially endorsed the use of this new tool based on the thorough evaluation of the evidence of its effectiveness under actual program conditions. As part of its role in the development and evaluation process of this tool, FIND has successfully negotiated with Cepheid, our manufacturing partner, to obtain significant price reductions for the Xpert® MTB/RIF in order to facilitate access to these diagnostic technologies. On August 6th, 2012 PEPFAR, USAID, UNITAID and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation finalized an agreement with Cepheid to further reduce the negotiated price of the Xpert MTB/RIF test for eligible customers of the FIND country list to US$ 9.98, Ex-works.
About negotiated prices
Both the GeneXpert instruments and the Xpert MTB/RIF test cartridges are offered to the FIND Markets at very significant discounts when compared to the commercial markets.
