Dr. Bärbel Porstmann

Dr.
Bärbel Porstmann has more than 20 years experience
in clinical laboratory diagnosis and more than 10
years expertise with the diagnostic industry. She
worked as head of clinical laboratories at a
university hospital in Berlin, with responsibility
for development, evaluation and introduction of
novel diagnostic tests and supervision of routine
laboratory work.
At
Boehringer Mannheim and at Roche Diagnostics in
Basel, Bärbel held leading positions in strategic
business development and research, in addition to
developing new diagnostic products. Among other
positions, she was head of advanced diagnostics,
program leader of oncology for integrated health
care solutions, head of the integrated cancer care
unit and divisional head of clinical development of
new tests particularly for cancer and infectious
diseases.
Bärbel joined FIND in October 2006 as Head of Project Management & Regulatory Affairs, contributing her extensive experience to ensure the execution of
FIND’s Quality Assurance. In May 2008, she became Senior Operating Officer. In this capacity, she oversees the everyday operations and functions of FIND. These duties include providing direction for the different operating units by leading project management of disease and country programs; ensuring effective planning for clinical trials, logistics, and administrative support; organizing and preparing Senior Management Meetings; and developing and putting in place strategic operating plans that reflect the longer-term objectives and priorities of the Foundation.
Bärbel will work with the CEO in maintaining an appropriate structure for the foundation and its management by putting in place effective systems of controls, both non-financial and financial; ensuring that appropriate standard processes are developed and implemented, including assuring that effective communication systems are in place both within the organization and externally, with groups such as the media.
