Scientific Officer, FIND Malaria Programme  Dr. Iveth J. González

Iveth J. González is medical doctor from the Universidad del Valle in Colombia and holds a PhD degree in Life Sciences from the Université de Lausanne in Switzerland. During her medical studies, she participated in research for the development of a malaria vaccine at the Instituto de Inmunología del Valle in Colombia, acquiring expertise in laboratory techniques in immunology and malaria diagnosis.

After getting her medical degree, Iveth joined the Centro Internacional de Entrenamiento e Investigaciones Médicas (CIDEIM) in Colombia, where she worked for 5 years conducting clinical trials for the evaluation of the efficacy of antimalarial treatments, and doing research in basic sciences for the identification of parasite molecular markers of antimalarial resistance.

Working at the Department of Biochemistry of the Université de Lausanne, she had the opportunity to acquire deeper knowledge in molecular biology and biochemistry of parasitic protozoa by working in the characterization of Leishmania proteins as potential drug targets.

Dr. González joined FIND in July 2008 as Scientific Officer in the malaria program.
