Scientific Advisory Committee
The Scientific Advisory Committee
(SAC) is composed of 6 to 10 leading scientists with
expertise in each of the following key areas:
development, evaluation, and demonstration across
some of the leading technologies and indications
FIND plans to address.
The SAC fills several primary
roles:
- Support the Chief Scientific
Officer (CSO) in the creation and implementation
of the Scientific Strategic Plan
- Assist in the mapping of
technologies to tests needed in different market
segments
- Refine prioritization process
of portfolio selection
- Evaluate and select the most
promising projects, using deep knowledge of
science, models for success and technologies
- Bring latest technologies and
developments to the attention of the CSO
- Provide scientific expertise
to accelerate, reduce the cost, and increase
the effectiveness of diagnostic test development
and demonstration
Each SAC member serves a maximum
of three terms of three years each. SAC meetings
generally take place twice a year and individual
members are expected to interact informally with the
CSO and Scientific Heads of FIND on a more frequent
basis. SAC members are expected to recluse
themselves from situations posing a potential
conflict of interest.
Business Advisory Committee
This committee of external consultants provides
advice and support to the business and operational
performance of the Foundation in achieving its
stated goals. The committee has knowledge in areas
that complement FIND’s in-house strengths. These
include operational and fund raising expertise as
well as different aspects of diagnostics
development, manufacture and knowledge of
distribution of diagnostics to developing countries.
