Scientific Advisory Committee

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) is composed of 6 to 10 leading scientists with expertise in each of the following key areas: development, evaluation, and demonstration across some of the leading technologies and indications FIND plans to address.

The SAC fills several primary roles:

  • Support the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) in the creation and implementation of the Scientific Strategic Plan
  • Assist in the mapping of technologies to tests needed in different market segments
  • Refine prioritization process of portfolio selection
  • Evaluate and select the most promising projects, using deep knowledge of science, models for success and technologies
  • Bring latest technologies and developments to the attention of the CSO
  • Provide scientific expertise to accelerate, reduce the cost, and increase the effectiveness of diagnostic test development and demonstration

Each SAC member serves a maximum of three terms of three years each. SAC meetings generally take place twice a year and individual members are expected to interact informally with the CSO and Scientific Heads of FIND on a more frequent basis. SAC members are expected to recluse themselves from situations posing a potential conflict of interest.
