Dr. Heather Alexander Konopka* |

Dr. Alexander Konopka
received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology
from Lafayette College and her PhD in Microbiology
and Molecular Genetics from Emory University.
After completing her
dissertation on the molecular pathogenesis of
Neisseria meningitidis, she was accepted
into the United States Department of Health and
Human Services Emerging Leaders Program, where she
worked as a science intern at the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA), National Institutes of Health
(NIH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), and the Foundation for the NIH-Grand
Challenges in Global Health.
Dr. Alexander Konopka joined
FIND in August 2005 as a shared hire with CDC’s
Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (DTBE),
International Research and Programs Branch. At FIND,
she oversees demonstration projects of rapid methods
for TB drug susceptibility testing (DST), including
the BD MGIT DST projects in Eastern Europe and Asia.
