The Board represents the ultimate decision-making body of FIND, with
responsibilities that include approving
the budget, making senior-level
personnel decisions, and ensuring that
FIND is making the progress needed to
achieve its objectives.
The Board performs the following functions:
Provides guidance and ultimate
decision-making authority on strategic
investments and activities
Approves all operations related to the
Management team, including the work
plan and budget
Oversees the progress of Foundation
programs
Selects, evaluates and replaces FIND’s
executives if needed
Ensures the integrity of FIND, the
corporate accounting and financial
reporting systems, and the independent
audit
Participates in fundraising efforts to
increase the resources of the
Foundation over time by soliciting
private and public donations
Selects new Board members
Reviews executive compensation
In addition, the Board contributes its
expertise, guidance, and authority to:
Support public relations and communication
of key messages and activities
Initiate and broker relationships between
FIND and other entities to contribute to
FIND’s objectives
Support fundraising activities to ensure
sufficient resources to achieve FIND’s goals
Determine the appropriate time to expand
FIND’s focus from tuberculosis to other
diseases
The Board is selected on the basis of criteria
that include individual skills, leadership in
the diagnostic field, technical/clinical
expertise in relevant disease areas, a history
of success in driving development, laboratory
and clinical-trial expertise, knowledge of what
is required to succeed in disease endemic
countries, and a willingness to invest time to
help FIND succeed.
